Darks Miranda

Darks Miranda é artista e cineasta. Em seu trabalho, que combina vídeo, escultura, performance e instalação, usa a montagem como procedimento de linguagem e investiga o imaginário da ficção científica do século passado para refletir sobre o fracasso do projeto ocidental modernizante e suas noções de futuro e progresso. Em seus trabalhos de vídeo, a artista usa imagens de found footage emaranhadas em um processo de edição inventivo que brinca com a superposição e o excesso, criando composições e universos visuais em um meio termo entre ficção e realidade performática. Em sua pratica escultórica, a natureza arqueológica é expandida, assim como a sensação de se habitar uma dimensão paralela: paisagens cenográficas são povoadas por seres forjados em materiais sintéticos como látex, resina, plásticos, pigmentos, tinta spray e, mais recentemente, matérias minerais como a argila e os esmaltes cerâmicos.
Participou de exposições em instituições como Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães [Portugal], Tate Modern [Reino Unido], Centro de Cultura Digital CDMX [México], Centre Georges Pompidou [França] e a 14ª Bienal do Mercosul. Em 2025, foi uma das artistas vencedoras do Prêmio PIPA.
/ Darks Miranda is an artist and filmmaker. In her work—combining video, sculpture, performance, and installation—she employs montage as a linguistic strategy and delves into the sci-fi imaginaries of the last century to reflect on the failure of the Western modernizing project and its notions of future and progress. In her video pieces, the artist weaves together found-footage images through an inventive editing process that plays with superimposition and excess, creating compositions and visual worlds that hover between fiction and performative reality. In her sculptural practice, the archaeological nature of objects is expanded, as is the sensation of inhabiting a parallel dimension: scenic landscapes are populated by beings forged from synthetic materials such as latex, resin, plastics, pigments, spray paint and, more recently, mineral substances like clay and ceramic glazes.
She has taken part in exhibitions at institutions such as Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães [Portugal], Tate Modern [UK], Centro de Cultura Digital CDMX [Mexico], Centre Georges Pompidou [France], as well as the 14th Bienal do Mercosul. In 2025, she was one of the winners of the PIPA Prize.
